About
Hello! I'm Subāsh, Software Engineer, Thinker & Artist. I am based out of Bangalore, India and was born and brought up here. I have a Masters in Software Engineering and have been a practitioner for over a decade and a half. I am currently serving as the Director of Technology at SellerApp, an e-commerce analytics company. I have worked across technologies and domains like Fintech & E-Commerce and have experience with fullstack software development.Over the past decade I have worked with corporates as well as startups, and have solved different kinds of problems. I have helped businesses build high quality software and deliver great user experiences. When I want to take a break I usually love to travel, read or paint, an avid nature lover I explore places which are unique and serene.
I believe that computers can help us become better rather than replace us. We should be able to reach new heights using these tools, and I want to help in making it happen. I love solving hard problems and spend time thinking about the how we can do things faster, better and efficiently. I like simplicity and minimalism. I am of the opinion that we should aim to reduce how much energy and resources we expend in our daily lives because the Earth does not belong to humans alone.
I started learning computers for my fascination with computer games, it was then that I discovered the amazing world of computer programs. I started writing HTML and Javascript and then soon started building websites and from there I took the leap and learnt C & C++ programming. This journey led me into a hobby of programming for fun, I explored games and how they work and tried to replicate them. At one point I even tried to build a clone of the game Age of Empires, which was a popular game at the time. I still lookback and think about all the learning I did during that time, this curiosity kept me ahead of everyone around me and ultimately helped me become who I am. The same passion still drives me today, I want to build things which challenge my skills and test me to my limits.
My Work
- Protosketch - A journey into computer vision
- I created this tool as a capstone project for my Masters course in Software Engineering. I was working on user interfaces at that time and wanted to see if there was a simple way to prototype them quickly without having to spend a lot of time between design and development teams. This tool was intended to capture a sketch of the web page design and then convert it into HTML using the OpenCV library. Though its simplistic it gave me a glimpse of the challenges of solving vision problems in Computer Science.
- Spaceship Shooter - An arcade game that many grew up on
- This was a fun program to write for me since I love playing and building games, I wanted to try my hand at recreating one of the oldest arcade games that I had grown up with. I have also tried to explore some of the newer technologies that were available at the time(HTML Canvas) so that I can understand them better. This is a game I still play sometimes when I feel like spending some time playing simple games of the bygone era.
- Morse - Are you going sailng anytime soon?
- This again was a fun program to write, just like before, experimenting with new technologies that I can get my hands on. This one uses audio to and from text. It was an interesting experiment in itself that I could render audio on the web just using Javascript alone. It still fascinates me how web technologies have grown over time from simple "marquee" to complex animations on canvas.
- Roller Ball - My foray into the Unity framework
- In my journey into exploring how to build games I worked with Unity for a while when I could download the game development SDK. This was my first experiment with real game physics and materials, it gave me a lot of insight into how big games are built and how 3D works. This simple game taught me a lot of game development related tricks and tips.

Currently Exploring
I'm currently exploring a few things, one of them is the math behind machine learning and how it came to be, I am spending time reading and researching the papers that led to AI that is prevalent today. There has been a lot of work behind the latest frontier models and they are ever increasing in complexity every single day. I intend to write about it soon.
One other thing I am exploring at the moment is techniques for improving knowledge retention specifically for STEM topics. I am experimenting with various tools and approaches to see which ones give the best benefit with minimum time spent on setup and practice. This is important for me since I like reading about technlogy but often find myself searching for things that I have already read about in the past but have forgotten about it since I do not use it on an everyday basis. I believe we are more capable than we think and can easily retain entire books in our mind if we consume it the right way.

You can reach out to me on email, I am very active there, not much on LinkedIn though so you might see a delay in my replies if you reached out to me through that channel. If you are in Bangalore drop me an email and we can catch up during weekends or evenings on weekdays. If you have some interesting topics to discuss or even boring ones I'm all ears.
